According to the Vedas, Lord Vishwakarma is the divine architect and designer of all the gods and goddesses. Every year, Hindus worship Lord Vishwakarma on Kanya Sankranti, which falls on the last day of the Hindu month of Bhadrapada. The date corresponds to September 16 to 18 on the Gregorian calendar. This year’s Vishwakarma Puja will be held on September 17.
The auspicious time for Vishwakarma Puja this year is September 17 from 7:36 a.m. to 9:38 p.m. West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Tripura, Bihar, and Jharkhand are among the states that celebrate the occasion. On this day, factory and shop owners perform puja to seek the Lord’s blessing for success in their fields. All tools and machines are worshipped alongside the idol of the God Vishwakarma.
History
In some Hindu scriptures, the deity is referred to as’swayambhu,’ or the self-manifested. He is regarded as the creator of all material things in the universe, as well as the divine architect of gods’ and goddesses’ chariots, palaces, and weapons. As a result, every year on Kanya Sankranti, engineers, designers, architects, craftsmen, and sculptors worship Lord Vishwakarma.
Vishwakarma Ji is said to have built the Pushpak Vimana and Swarna Lanka for Ravan, as described in the epic Ramayan. According to the epic Mahabharat, he also built Dwarka for Lord Krishna and Indraprastha for the Pandavas.
Significance
In Hinduism, the occasion is extremely important. Vishwakarma Puja, unlike other festivals, lasts only one day. The dates for Vishwakarma Puja are determined by the Solar calendar, while the dates for the other festivals are determined by the Lunar calendar.
