Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has authorised the reimbursement of fees paid by women to institutions for distance education. The government announced the decision, stating that the women will now be able to build their futures by continuing their education. The Chief Minister has implemented a 'Girls Distance Education Scheme' in the state to accomplish this. According to an official statement, Rs 14.83 crore has been sanctioned to benefit a total of 36,300 girls and women each year through the scheme.

Fees will be reimbursed under the scheme

Women who are unable to attend college or university on a regular basis for a variety of reasons will be able to pursue higher education via distance learning. Fees for 16,000 undergraduate seats, 5,300 postgraduate seats, 10,000 diploma seats, 3,000 PG diploma seats, and 2,000 certificate seats are proposed to be reimbursed under the scheme. Beneficiaries will be able to continue their studies at state government-aided universities, government colleges, and Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, Kota, via distance education.

The fee paid by them to these institutes will be reimbursed, the government said. The Chief Minister had announced implementation of the Girl Child Distance Education Scheme in the budget 2022-23.
