Haryana will provide Rs 1.20 lakh Per Acre for Growing Dragon Fruit

Good news for dragon fruit farmers. The Haryana government will provide farmers with a subsidy of Rs. 120,000 per acre to encourage them to cultivate this tropical fruit and profit from it.

According to Additional Chief Secretary (ACS-Agriculture) Sumita Misra, the special grant scheme provides for a Rs. 120,000 grant per acre grant for dragon fruit orchards and a Rs. 50,000 grant for planting saplings to be paid in three yearly instalments of Rs. 30,000 in the first year and Rs. 10,000 each in the second and third years.

According to Misra, a farmer can get a grant of up to 10 acres under this scheme, but in order to do so, they must first register on the “Meri Fasal-Mera Byora’ website.

“The grant will be awarded based on a ‘first come, first serve’,” according to Misra.

Collaboration with Brazil for the development of animal breeds

According to JP Dalal, Haryana’s minister for agriculture and farmer welfare, the state will work with Brazil to build an animal breed development centre of excellence.

He stated that the Haryana livestock development board has received an offer to import Murrah buffalo germplasm from the “Gir Association of Brazil.”

The modalities for establishing a center of excellence for Gir animals in Haryana were addressed on Wednesday by members of the Association of Brazilian Zebu Breeders (ABCZ) by a delegation headed by Dalal who is now visiting Brazil.
