• Goal is to double the income of farmers through sustainable farming practises

The Seamless Digital Implementation & Ground Monitoring Platform for Delivering End-to-End AgriTech Analytics Services to Farmers (SIGMAA) pilot study was launched in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, for the benefit of farmers by Leads Connect Services, a Noida-based Agritech company.

Aims to develop high-quality crop growing regions

The SIGMAA project aims to identify and develop high-value and high-quality crop growing regions, such as Basmati rice, wheat, and mustard. Another goal is to double the income of farmers through sustainable farming practises and technological interventions. The research will last four seasons, beginning in Kharif 2022–23 (June 2022) and ending in Rabi 2023–24. (April 2024).

Sustainable farm practises and technological interventions at the launch of SIGMAA

Santosh Gangwar, a Member of Parliament from Bareilly, launched the study in Tulia village. Farmers in Tulia and Jogither villages were advised on the use of sustainable farm practises and technological interventions at the launch of SIGMAA. To educate farmers about the use of Kisaan drones and fertiliser sprays, a demonstration of the drones and fertiliser sprays was held.

150 farmers from Bareilly villages enrolled in the pilot study

Leads Connect chose Bareilly for the pilot study because of its potential as a market linkage hub, as the city is not only close to India’s commercial nodal centres, but also has a thriving urban cluster, which is a must for building a long-term value chain. More than 150 farmers from these two Bareilly villages will be enrolled in the pilot study using a field app and platform.

Crop suitability analysis

Seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides will be distributed based on expert advice after the Agricultural Credit Score (ACS) for each farm and farmer is calculated. The study would also use a crop suitability analysis report based on technology to determine the best crop for the region.

Top executives from Leads Connect Services attended the launch, including Ghanshyam Khandelwal, Director & Mentor; Navneet Ravikar, Chairman & Managing Director; Richa Khandelwal, Director; Yogesh Kumar Singh, Vice President & Research Head; Syed Irshad Haider, India Head Crop & Govt.
