Russia values its “equal and respectful” relations with India, and the two strategic allies’ multifaceted collaboration is among the world’s “most elaborate.”

The envoy also stated that the two countries’ positions on “core issues” remain similar or coincident, and that there are numerous new opportunities for Indian businesses in the Russian market, particularly given the withdrawal of many western companies. A large number of western businesses are leaving Russia as a result of the country’s attack on Ukraine and the subsequent economic sanctions imposed by the US and Europe.

He stated that Russia and India continue to implement flagship initiatives with great success, describing their cooperation as “unparalleled.”

The Kudankulam nuclear power plant project in Tamil Nadu, the AK-203 rifle manufacturing programme, and the production of main battle tanks, frigates, submarines, and Brahmos missiles are among them, according to the envoy. He also stated that the delivery of S-400 air defence missile systems to India is progressing according to plan

Russia values its relations with India as being equal and respectful. “For global peace, stability, and sustainable development, our cooperation is a defining factor,” Alipov said. “We are optimistic about the future of our bilateral relations and are prepared to move forward in realising their full potential and exploring new horizons for the benefit of the people of our two friendly countries,” he added.

In the midst of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Alipov made his remarks. India has yet to condemn Russia’s actions and has pressed for a diplomatic solution to the crisis. Alipov said that during the 75 years of
India-Russia relations, both countries were able to establish “true friendship and mutual trust.”
