Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs, and Sports, announced two schemes on Wednesday 18 may to encourage the production of foreign films and foreign co-productions with India.

An incentive scheme for audio-visual co-production and an incentive scheme for shooting foreign films in India are the two schemes.
The two schemes were announced by Anurag Thakur during the 75th Cannes Film Festival’s inauguration of the India Pavilion.
According to him, the cash incentive for the scheme is up to 30%, with a maximum of US $260,000. He went on to say that foreign films shooting in India will receive an additional bonus of up to $65,000 if they employ 15% or more of their manpower in the country.
