On Sunday, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth officially inaugurated the Quatre Bornes to Phoenix section of the India-Mauritius Flagship Metro Express project (May 8).The Indian High Commission in Mauritius tweeted, “The much-awaited Quatre Bornes to Phoenix segment of the India-Mauritius Flagship Metro Express project was launched today by Prime Minister.”
In October 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Jugnauth inaugurated the first phase of the metro via video-conferencing.
The first 13-kilometer phase ran from Port Louis to Rose Hill.L&T was responsible for the design and construction of the integrated light rail-based urban transit system. The contract was awarded to the company by the Mauritian government in 2017 for Rs 3,375 crore.
