According to a government order released on 1st May, former petroleum secretary Tarun Kapoor has been appointed as an advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On November 30, 2021, Kapoor, a 1987-batch IAS official from the Himachal Pradesh cadre, retired as the secretary of the ministry of petroleum and natural gas.

The Cabinet Appointments Committee has accepted Kapoor’s appointment as a Prime Minister’s Advisor in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), in the rank and scale of Secretary to the Government of India, for duration of two years from the date of joining, according to a personnel ministry order.
Rao is a Madhya Pradesh cadre lAS officer who works as an administrator at the Universal Services Obligation Fund in the department of telecommunications.Rao’s Bihar cadre classmate Chandra is currently the chairman and managing director (CMD) of the Food Corporation of India’s department of food and public distribution.
Alkesh Kumar Sharma, who was secretary (Coordination) at the Cabinet Secretariat, was also named secretary in the ministry of electronics and information technology by the government. Sanjay Kumar has been named secretary of the ministry of youth affairs, while S.K.G. Rahate, additional secretary of the ministry of power, has been named secretary of the ministry of justice.
