The public and TNSTC officials praised a TNSTC crew — driver V Arumugasamy and conductor K Esakki alias Kuttisamy — for their prompt attempts to assist a 69-year-old customer who complained of chest pain during the voyage by transporting him to a government hospital for treatment.
The event occurred near Athiyoothu
The event occurred near Athiyoothu, as a government bus was traveling between Tenkasi and Tirunelveli. Sahul Hameed, a passenger, complained of chest trouble to his fellow passengers. Hameed’s condition deteriorated while the passengers dialed 108 for an ambulance to take him to the hospital. Also, because the ambulance had to travel from Tenkasi, about 20 kilometers from Athiyoothu, the bus driver V Arumugasamy and conductor K Esakki alias Kuttisamy drove the bus to the Alangulam GH, five kilometers from Athiyoothu, with the approval of the passengers.”
After arriving at the GH, the old man was saved on time
He was then transferred to the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for further treatment,” they added. When reached by TNIE, bus driver V Arumugasamy revealed that after admitting Hameed to the hospital, he informed his relatives over the phone.
Hameed was a heart sufferer, according to the paperwork he had with him. Due to this event, the bus was delayed for around 50 minutes. The GH is also inside the town, rather than on the highway. However, none of the passengers objected to Hameed’s admission to the GH.”
