A dynamic Assam man’s medical clowning venture is touching lives after he was semi-paralyzed in a train accident.
Anubhav Mahanta’s Guwahati start-up specialises in keeping patients entertained.
Anubhav Mahanta is 36 years old. He owns and operates a successful business in Guwahati. He has 18 employees and has earned honours for his filmmaking He is also a father of an eight-year-old girl and a multi-talented individual who writes books and directs films.
When you ask how and why he performs all of this, you’ll discover a wonderful story. Mahanta’s company specialises in what’s known as’medical clowning.’ This entails doing activities similar to those performed by clowns in a circus to keep patients entertained while undergoing therapy
Mahanta’s story is unique
Mahanta’s story is unique in because he learned about the procedure while being hospitalised after an accident in New Delhi. After being hit by a train in Guwahati, he sustained serious injuries. He was fully paralysed when he was sent to the national capital in 2006. When he returned to Guwahati after three months in the hospital, he was semi-paralyzed. For the next few years, he was treated the same way then he came up with this wonderful ideas which is winning many hearts.

In Guwahati, he owns a guesthouse next to the B Barooah ncer Institute, where patients and their families stay. His company keeps them happy by charging ‘500 for a 12-hour service. He also owns and operates a pharmacy as well as a Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana centre. He also works as a pharmaceutical wholesaler. He is self-sufficient and employs 18 people, six of whom are women.
