SCHOOL CHALO ABHIYAN: AN INITIATIVE TO ENSURE 100 PERCENT ENROLMENT IN PRIMARY AND UPPER PRIMARY SCHOOLS




HIGHLIGHTS-

• Uttar Pradesh government has launched the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’.
• It is launched to ensure that all primary and upper primary schools in the state are enrolled completely.

UP government has launched a campaign to shape the future of primary education. The campaign named, ‘School Chalo Abhiyaan’ intends to ensure 100 percent enrollment in primary and upper primary schools in the state. Under this program, the schools in the state will be equipped with all the basic facilities. In addition, the low literacy region will be prioritized for this campaign.

The ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ will begin in Shravasti, which has the lowest literacy rate in the state. It will be followed by Bahraich, Balrampur, Badaun, and Rampur.

School Chalo Abhiyaan: An effort to shape the future of students

According to the official announcement, the initiative is the state government’s effort to shape the future of primary education. The program also focuses on the holistic development of primary schools. Under this program, the state’s primary schools will be provided with improved facilities. Moreover, the Chief Minister has directed authorities to prioritize regions with poor literacy rates.

School Chalo Abhiyaan: Facilities to be provided under the scheme

The CM has instructed all government schools to provide students with basic amenities like toilets, drinking water, furniture, and smart classes. In addition, the campaign will provide students with uniforms, shoes, and socks. The announcement has also urged departmental officials to launch a campaign to improve state-run schools by collaborating with alumni (of government schools) and private organizations.
The Basic Education Department has been given additional instructions to prepare for the campaign and ensure that the teachers are deployed in all state-run schools.

School Chalo Abhiyaan: MLAs to adopt one school each

CM Yogi Adityanath suggested that the members of the legislative assembly (MLAs) must adopt one school each, along with all other public representatives who will be associated with the campaign. In addition, officials should also adopt the schools to promote their holistic growth.
