WOMEN EMPOWERMENT: ANJU BECAME SELF-SUFFICIENT WITH HANDICRAFTS, PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT TO MORE THAN A HUNDRED WOMEN

There is no such thing as an old age when it comes to achieving achievement. Anju, a 44-year-old woman, is a living example of this. Anju resides in Dallupura, near Mayur Vihar, with her family. At the age of 38, Anju established the Alina Parmartham Foundation. She gained self-sufficiency as a result of this, as well as providing job to many poor women in the neighbourhood. Anju makes a living by selling her handcrafted things on the market. They have not only found work through handicrafts, also they have also given them confidence. She is now totally contributing to the family’s financial expenses.

Started work alone six years ago:
Anju started her work in 2016. Prior to this, she was working in association with various social organizations, which instilled in her the passion to do her own work with confidence. She told that his niece’s name is Alina, after that he started his foundation.

She first learned to sew herself and make various decorative items from bamboo. After that started her own work. She then taught this work to the needy women of the area and also gave employment. This empowered those women too.

What are the products they produce?

She is giving employment to about 100 women. Anju makes socks, sweaters, caps etc. from woolen clothes in winter. Along with this, by sewing torn and old clothes, they make bags from them. Apart from this, pen holders, pots, cups, trays, plates, bowls, flower pots, jewelry boxes, key rings etc. decorative items are made from bamboo wood. Anju told that ever since she started this work, the financial condition of the family has also become stronger.

Selling products made by her in various fairs:

Anju sells her products by participating in fairs organized by various institutions including Delhi University’s Vivekananda College and Delhi Secretariat. Along with this, she puts up stalls once a week in the local market like Vasundhara Enclave, Mayur Vihar etc. and during festivals for the sale of her products.
